Daf Yomi

The international Daf Yomi learning programme allows Jews all over the world to study the same page of the Talmud at the same time, so that wherever you travel, you can join a local shiur. The Ner Yisrael Daf Yomi shiur commenced in 1997 and we are proud to have started our second 7-year cycle together in 2005, on the same page as everyone else! Most of our group have busy working lives and are only inspired to attend a taxing one-hour shiur late at night by the inspiring style of Rabbi Kimche and his team of Maggidei Shiur, which includes regular contributors Rabbi Mordechai Fachler, Jeffrey Sagal and Michael Pollak.

Men are welcome to join Daf Yomi at any point in the cycle. The shiur takes place at 9pm on weekdays, 6pm on Sundays, and on Shabbat 1½ hours before Mincha in the summer, and 1½ hours after Motzae Shabbat in the winter.

Early Birds- Gemora Shiur – Rabbi Leslie Solomon’s Gemara Shiur commences at 6.15am, to sharpen minds at the start of the day.

Sunday - Rabbi Dr Alan Kimche gives a weekly shiur directly after the second Shacharit minyan (9.00am) for 45 minutes.

Monday – Gemora Shiur- given be Rabbi Saul Djanogly from his home at 5 Ashley Lane, NW4 at 8.15pm.

Wednesday Morning Women’s Programme-Ner has led the way in women’s learning since the community opened its doors. Starting at 10am the learning programme brings together women from all over North London for regular high-level shiurim. Teachers include Rabbi Harvey Belovski, Mrs Flora Frank, and Mrs Kimche. Creche facilities are provided.

Wednesday – Beginners’ Gemora Shiur – A friendly and unthreatening introduction to Talmud study with Mr Eli Friedwald, with a focus on translation of the text and the structure of its arguments. Students of different levels come from all over North West London for this Wednesday evening shiur.

Wednesday -Parshat Hashavuah Shiur – given by Rabbi Dr Alan Kimche – Local businessmen and women and those who work from home now gather at Ner on Wednesday lunchtimes (1.00pm) for a Parshat Hashavua Shiur by Rabbi Dr Alan Kimche, with refreshments provided.

Thursday – Chabura Shiur with Rabbi Marcel Bordon

Shabbat Afternoon Women’s Summer Programme-Every Shabbat afternoon in the Summer, women from communities all over Hendon gather at Ner Yisrael to hear shiurim by local and guest Rabbis and women educators. The shiur is run in conjunction with Hendon United Synagogue and past themes have included Pirkei Avot, the weekly Haftarah, Tefillah and Mitzvot Bein Adom
